NEWS LETTER 30 Easter 2005
Light and life to all he brings…….
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John8:12 NIV)
MAY THE LIGHT OF THE SON RISE UP IN YOU HEART THIS EASTER.
OUR CHAIRMAN WRITES
“…as Jonah….” Luke 11:30; Matthew 12:40
Jesus identified with the dark, deep and death-like experiences of Jonah, the Galilean prophet. God’s miraculous power, grace and love were clear signs in rescued Jonah’s life. In the very incarnate Person and experiences of resurrected Jesus, God demonstrates His might, faithfulness and victory in this fallen world. Hallelujah!
The message we take to our world and generation is quite uncomplicated and straightforward: “Repent and believe.” Nineveh, several hundred years before the coming of Christ, pulsated at every level of society: royalty and military, professionals and agriculturalists, young and old. However, Ninevite society did not know or possess the truth of God until Jonah's direct, pointed and effective preaching.
May we be able to stand together with the Ninevites on that great Judgment Day to give thanks to God for the promised Redeemer. May we become enabled this Easter to witness boldly and simply to the new life, dynamic power and transforming hope Jesus, our Saviour, brings to any society and every believer. May we be signs ourselves in our present and personal circumstances pointing to the irrefutable fact that, “Salvation is of the LORD”. Is this what our patient and passionate God wanted Jonah, and ourselves today, to learn?

TREASURER’S NOTES
Although our financial condition is fair, it could do with a revitalising shot in the arm to bring it back to full health. We have not recovered from the heavy expenditure on the purchase, and subsequent repair last year, of a vehicle for the work of Sonnie and Rosemary in Eastern Europe.
We still have that vehicle but we need to sell it as quickly as possible. This is necessary because Sonnie and Rosemary are likely to be leaving these shores in the late spring, for their 2005 ministry visit, and the sale of the car would provide vitally needed funds.
The car is an “L” registered Toyota Lucida People Carrier. It has about 6 months’s Road Tax and MOT certificate remaining. Having been extensively repaired, it is in good order mechanically, but the body work has a scratch along one side. This is not too serious and we are hoping to have it repaired before sale. The price is £4,500 o.n.o.

News of Sonnie and Rosemary Gibbard
First of all they would like to thank all the supporters of GFC for their prayers over the years, their gifts, letters of encouragement and happy times they have spent with you in your homes churches. At the moment Sonnie and Rosemary have not made any plans for the summer but they will be returning to Slovakia in due course. Sonnie still has legal matters to attend to and is keen to get the carpentry workshop for boys started. This has been his vision for sometime and as premises have been found and the tools are in place he would like to get it running. He would appreciate your prayers for God’s help and guidance with this project. At the Trustees meeting in January, Rosemary, who has been our secretary for over ten years, resigned. She will be going into hospital on 10/03/05 to have a cataract removed from her left eye and would like to have plenty of time to rest. Please pray for her speedy recovery. However, she and Sonnie are happy to visit Slovakia as representatives of GFC, to continue as trustees and allow their house to be used for meetings. When they are at home they will also speak at meetings to raise funds for the work and help in any way that they can. Since traveling can be tiring they would appreciate your prayers for health and strength, and wisdom to know what they need to do at this time of their life.
And if you would like to visit them in Partizanske, please let them know so that arrangements can be made for you to do so.
With love and many thanks from Rosemary.
