India
Gypsies for Christ is now looking eastward
to the country that the Gypsy people originally came from and where large
numbers of them still live. In 2007 representatives from the organisation
visited some of the Gypsy churches and the New Life in Christ Ministries
International orphanage near Bangalore in Andhra Pradesh. It was quite a
short trip organised by Pastor Kumar Swamy, who is also a trustee of GFC, but
since then it has been agreed to partner with NLICM in their ever expanding work
with the Gypsy people and to support the building of the Bible College for Gypsy
Pastors also in south India.
There is a great need for clean drinking
water in India and while the GFC team were there wells and pumps were installed
in some of the villages and the people were delighted to have fresh water at
last. GFC plans to continue with this good work and when possible to make
further visits to the sub-continent to see how it is progressing.
